2011 Inspiring Hope Summer Youth Program - Registration Is Now Open

Who is Wright-Way Community Development?
Wright-Way Community Development is a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Anita Wright and Freddy Wright. It was incorporated as a non-profit 501c3 organization in 2001. The Wright-Way’s Inspiring Hope Summer Youth Program celebrated its inaugural year in 2009. In the Summer of 2011, Wright-Way CDC will open its doors again to the children in the community for the third annual Inspiring Hope Summer Youth Program. The five-week program is FREE for students ages 8 through 16. However, parents/guardians of the students who register are asked to give a $50 donation and/or in-kind donations to support the program. The students will receive free leadership and life skills training, nutritional meals (breakfast, lunch and snacks) and educational field trips. The program operates solely through the generosity of volunteers and sponsors.

When are the classes scheduled?
The program begins on July 5, 2011 and ends on August 5, 2011. Classes are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The deadline for registration is June 30, 2011. The students will attend classes at the Wright-Way Center located at 404 North Bonham, Cleveland, Texas 77327.

Where to register for the program?
Registration is now open for any parent or guardian wishing to apply for their child's participation in the Wright-Way’s Inspiring Hope Youth Program. When is Parents/Guardians Orientation?
Parents or guardians whose children are registered in the program must attend one parent orientation session before classes begin. Parents’ orientation and registration will be held at the Wright-Way Center, 404 North Bonham, Cleveland, Texas on June 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, and 30 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The orientation sessions will last approximately one and a half hours.

Loads of Fun at Shepherd Fun Friday

Last week's Fun Friday in Shepherd, Texas was another hit with attendees. The weather forecast didn't stop the local citizens from coming out and having fun.



Attendees feasted on nachos, frito pies, hot dogs, cake, chips and more while watching the performances of other attendees shared their singing and dancing talents. Dancing was the most popular activity for the night including a praise dance from members of the Lake Station Baptist Church, a divalicious and Beyonce'-inspired performance as well as a "Jerk" Dance-off competition.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND DRUG PREVENTION SEMINAR- SATURDAY, MAY 1, 2010

Liberty County Juvenile Probation Department, in collaboration with Inspiring Hope Education and Training, will sponsor a FREE Community Awareness and Drug Prevention Seminar. The seminar is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Liberty Middle School, 2515 Jefferson Drive, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Several representatives from law enforcement, probation, school district, and local, state and federal agencies will provide educational workshops. The workshops and panel discussions will focus on topics such as, but not limited to: Anger Management, Common Drugs Used Among Teens, Cyber-Bullying, Decision-making and Self-esteem Building, Depression and Suicide Among Teens, Gang Prevention Education, Parenting, Sexting and Harassment, Sexual Assault, Substance Abuse Prevention, and Teen Dating Violence.

In addition, the health department, community organizations and other social services agencies will be on-hand to provide participants information regarding counseling, employment opportunities, health and safety issues, and much more.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. CT.

A light breakfast and afternoon snack will be provided during the event.
